FY 2003
Please provide the total estimated completion costs by source of funding for repair and renovation and new construction projects for science and research facilities that cost over $250,000, and started during your FY 2002 or FY 2003. Total costs reported in column A should match costs for research space reported in Question 7 on page 9 of the survey. Total costs reported in column B should match the costs for research space reported on the Individual Project Form(s) for new construction projects.
FY 2005
Please provide the completion costs by source of funding for repair and renovation and new construction of S&E research facilities that started during your FY 2004 or FY 2005 as reported in Question10 and Question 13E. Include only those projects whose prorated cost was estimated to be $250,000 or more for at least one field of S&E.

Total costs reported in column 1 should match the sum of the costs for repair and renovation of research facilities reported in Question 10 on page 12 of the survey.

Total costs reported in column 2 should match the sum of the costs for new construction as reported in Question 13E on all Individual Project Forms.

FY 2007 and FY 2009
Please provide the completion costs by source of funding for repair and renovation and new construction of S&E research facilities that started during your previous or current FY as reported in Question 9 and Question 12E.

FY 2011 to present

Total costs reported in column 1 should match the sum of the costs for repair and renovation of research facilities reported in Question 7 on page 10.

Total costs reported in column 2 should match the sum of the costs for new construction as reported in Question 9E on all Individual Project Forms.

Description
Examples of institutional and other funding sources are operating funds, endowments, tax-exempt bonds and other debt financing, indirect costs recovered from federal grants/contracts, private donations, and other sources.
Start date is the date on which the physical work of the construction is scheduled to begin.
Completion costs include planning, site preparation, construction, fixed equipment, nonfixed equipment that costs $1 million or more, and building infrastructure such as plumbing, lighting, air exchange, and safety systems either in the building or within 5 feet of the building foundation.
FY 2003
New construction refers to construction of a new building, additions to an existing building, and the building out of shell space.

Shell space is unfinished space that intentionally is left for completion at a later time.

FY 2005 to present
New construction is the construction of a new building or additions to an existing building.
